◾ Just Eat Takeaway.com has unveiled a new initiative with Asda and the LEGO Group to offer rapid toy delivery in the UK ahead of the peak festive period.
◾ Value retailer Primark posted a rise in profits as sales increased in all markets across the UK, Europe and the US in the full year ending September, with operating profits of £717m. Primark is also 33% ahead in Christmas sales compared to this time last year.
◾ SHEIN has formally registered an interest in making an offer for Topshop, currently owned by ASOS.com. Asos snapped up Topshop for £330m back in 2021. This comes off the back of Shein recently acquiring Missguided. The recent acquisitions may be in preparation for Shein's potential U.S. initial public offering, where they are reportedly seeking a $90 billion valuation in IPO.
◾ Online fashion giant Zalando has recorded a decrease in group revenue and is reviewing its guidance as it expects “continued pressure on demand” for the remainder of the financial year.
◾ Black Friday sales in the MENA region are forecast to hit $74 billion this year, according to a report by strategy consulting firm Redseer.
◾ Department store group John Lewis & Partners has launched its Black Friday promotion earlier than usual to cater to customers shopping early for Christmas.
◾ Marks and Spencer clothing & home division reported a +30% increase Y-o-Y in operating profit to £223.4m. M&S are also set to open a record number of new stores this month in its “biggest ever” store opening month to bolster its bricks-and-mortar portfolio.
